Champion Cares Golf Invitational Donates $200,000 to Two Central Ohio Charitable Organizations

Since the tournament’s inception, it has raised more than $700,000 for those in need in Central Ohio.

(SUNBURY, OH)– On Friday, August 9, The Champion Cares Golf Invitational (CCGI) shattered its previous charitable giving record by donating $200,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, and the YWCA Family Center.

The CCGI benefits The Champion Cares Foundation, which is the philanthropic initiative of Westerville-based multi-family firm The Champion Companies. The sold-out tournament brought together nearly 50 Central Ohio companies, through sponsorships and golfers, for the opportunity to make a huge impact on those in need.

“We are fortunate to have built a network of business partners who value giving back as much as we do,” said Michelle Yeager-Thornton, co-founder and COO of The Champion Companies. “It’s with their gracious support that we can use The Champion Cares Foundation to make a real difference in the lives of others.”

Representatives from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and YWCA Family Center were present at Northstar Golf Club to receive their $100,000 checks each during a banquet after the round of golf. Each expressed their gratitude for Champion and all others who sponsor and donate to the event, as it is largely a source of support for their respective operations each year.

“The Champion Companies’ contribution to the YWCA Columbus and our Family Center will help families move toward self-sufficiency while giving them comfort during their time of need.” said Christie Angel, President & CEO of YWCA Columbus.

Rebecca Asmo, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, also expressed thanks, stating, “The Champion Cares golf outing has become such an important source of support for the operations of the Boy & Girls Clubs of Columbus. This event – and the many other ways Champion supports our Clubs and our kids – makes our organization so much stronger.”

Champion President and CEO Brian Yeager echoed Michelle’s comments about the importance of their like-minded network of business partners who continue to support the CCGI year-after-year. “When we come together like this, as a business community, with the goal of making a tangible difference in the lives of others, there is no limit to what we can achieve.” said Yeager. “That’s why we continue to push this tournament’s reach year after year, because at the end of the day, we’re making a lasting impact on families and children in Central Ohio.”
