Champion raised a record-setting $100,000 at the Champion Cares Golf Invitational

Columbus, OH – On Aug. 12, the 2016 Champion Cares Golf Invitational welcomed 118 golfers to the NorthStar Golf Club of Sunbury, Ohio, in a tournament raising more than $100,000 for two Central Ohio charities.

The annual golf outing, which raised $65,000 in 2015, reached its fundraising goal and donated $50,000 to both the YWCA Family Center and the Children’s Hunger Alliance at this year’s event.

“The need is real and the need is right here in Central Ohio,” Michelle Yeager-Thornton, co-founder and COO of The Champion Companies, said. “With the generous support of this year’s golfers and 41 sponsors, we are able to make a difference in the lives of people right here in our hometown.”

The Champion Cares Foundation is the philanthropic initiative of The Champion Companies, a Westerville-based multi-family investment and management company. The Champion Cares Foundation’s mission is to support people within the community who are in need with the help of the company’s business relationships, residents and team members.

Community is one of Champion’s six core principles. The company and its team members are involved in several initiatives throughout the year that support local charities, including serving meals at the YWCA Family Center and sponsoring Children Hunger Alliance’s annual Taste to Remember.

“We continually stress the importance of being socially responsible,” Brian Yeager, president and CEO, said. “We see it as our responsibility to give back to the community and the Champion Cares Foundation allows us to mobilize our team members and business partners to get involved. And together we’re able to make a huge impact.”

The money donated at the 2016 CCGI will allow the YWCA Family Center and the Children’s Hunger Alliance fund programs and meals for the families they serve.

“We are proud to partner with the YWCA and the Children’s Hunger Alliance, two local organizations who share a similar mission as ours at Champion Cares,” Yeager-Thornton said. “We could not be more excited that the money we raised will help support our neighbors in need.”
