The Champion Companies Recognized for Corporate Citizenship

COLUMBUS, OH – On June 21, The Champion Companies was honored with a Corporate Citizenship Award from Columbus Business First for its 2017 contributions to Central Ohio charities.

The inaugural awards program was based off dollars donated, in-kind contributions and the number of volunteer hours given to nonprofits.

“No recognition is more important to us than what we continue to receive for giving back to the community,” said Michelle Yeager-Thornton, Champion’s Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. “Giving back,” continued Yeager-Thornton, “is ingrained into our company culture.”

Champion raised more than $289,000 for its partner charities in 2017 and its team members volunteered more than 1,350 hours. Champion’s philanthropic efforts benefit The Children’s Hunger Alliance, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, the YWCA Family Center and Habitat for Humanity MidOhio.

Most impressively, these 2017 totals put Champion in the Top 20 of the 100 most charitable companies in Central Ohio, according to Columbus Business First. This is no small feat for an organization with only 120 team members.

Champion’s President and CEO Brian Yeager echoed Michelle’s comments, “As long as we’re in business, we’ll do everything we can to get our networks involved in helping those in need,” he said.
