Champion Chief Construction Officer Receives 40 Under 40 Award

WESTERVILLE, OH – The Champion Companies along with Columbus Business First Magazine, announced that David Hatcher, Champion’s Chief Construction Officer, has been selected as a 40 Under 40 program honoree for 2019.

The longest-running program at Business First, 40 Under 40 is in its 27th year and recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who are making great strides as community leaders to shape the future of Central Ohio. The 40 Under 40 program is a highly selective annual program and the 27th class was chosen from nearly 380 nominations.

“It’s a great honor to be included in this prestigious group of change-makers and community leaders,” said Hatcher. “I’d like to thank Columbus Business First for recognizing me, and Brian Yeager for my nomination.”

In his role at Champion, Hatcher has directed the value-add renovation of more than 8000 apartment units, creating immense value for Champion’s residents and investors. In addition, he has more than $100 million in ground-up development projects completed or currently ongoing, with many more projects in the pipeline.

“Columbus is an exciting place to live right now, because we’re growing and creating opportunities at a record pace,” added Hatcher. “I’m really proud to be participating in that growth, especially as I am raising my own family here.”

Outside of his professional contributions, Dave is making a big impact on the Central Ohio community through philanthropic initiatives like his fundraising for the Champion Cares Golf Invitational, serving meals for the YWCA Family Center, or building homes with Habitat for Humanity Mid Ohio.

Soon, Dave will get the chance to blend his professional expertise with his desire to give back to the community: he is leading a future development project for Champion to bring a brand new, state-of-the-art Boys and Girls Club facility to the southside of Columbus. Hatcher will be Champion’s liaison throughout the construction process to ensure that the end result is a first-class facility the children of Columbus enjoy for years to come.

“All of these achievements are made possible by the great support system I have around me,” Hatcher said. “I share this 40 Under 40 honor with my family and the passionate, hard-working team at Champion who make amazing things happen every day.”

Hatcher will be honored at the Columbus Business First 40 Under 40 Awards ceremony on May 23, 2019, at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel. The 27th class of honorees will also be featured in the May 24, 2019 issue of Columbus Business First.
